Godard Retrospective Coming to DC!!!!
Attention DC Cinephiles:
That amazing Jean-Luc Godard retrospective scheduled for May at NYC's Film Forum will tour through DC in June. I'm still unsure of the full details other than these will probably grace the AFI theaters since a) NGA is booked, and b) Janus already told me their new prints of Pierrot le fou and Vivre sa vie will be making their way to the AFI this summer. I will post the full info as soon as it comes my way.
Also, while we're on the subject of French cinema, the NGA will host their own forty year reunion of May '68. Films will include Louis Malle's May Fools, Godard's Tout va bien, Philippe Garrel's Regular Lovers, and Romain Goupil's To Die at Thirty.
Between the recent Rivette, Haneke, and Sembene festivals, the current Eustache and Ophüls festivals, and the upcoming Godard and Demy festivals, wouldn't you say it's a pretty amazing time to live in or around DC? (save for all that political horseshit of course)
